Of course, we all knew - right?

The fact that when you wet cotton, the fabric has a tendency to grow?

Here is my phyllo yoked pullover, blocking. Except that I decided not to pin it into shape - on the basis that there is no way to pin the back, so why pin the front?

Now, I have put a standard adult sized clothes hanger into some of the last photos that follow, just so that you have context for its scale...

...trust me, this purple beauty? It is is truly a bit on the big side for me:

As context, this pullover is draped across the bed in my spare room. The bed is almost a double one and the sleeves on this pullover, dangle over each side. If it wasn't for the fact that I'd like to wear this pullover, I'd be utterly delighted that I had managed to complete a project of this magnitude. Really.

Golly. That hanger says it all...

It looks really pretty, though! For a giant...

SIGH! - have you tried washing it on a very hot programme and tumbledrying it? I know it sounds drastic, but at least it may shrink a wee bit. :(

I'd second the use of a tumble dryer. I have twice (successfully) tamed all-wool sweaters that tended to stretch with wearing, by handwashing, squeezing out water, and giving them about 15 minutes in a dryer on delicate. As for cotton--it will stretch every time you wear it, so might as well get it to size with warm wash & dry.
